Vehicle sales in Korea are expected to fall 1.7 percent on year in 2024 as an economic slowdown and high inflation continue to pinch consumers' wallets.

The country's auto sales in 2024 are estimated to reach 1.71 million units, according to the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association's report on Monday.

However, the association expects auto exports to rise 1.9 percent on year to 2.75 million units next year, thanks to strong demand in the United States and Europe.

It also predicts that the industry's total output will rise 0.7 percent on year to 4.17 million units in 2024.
