A massive sculpture commemorating the 304 victims of the Sewol ferry that sunk off the island of Byeongpung in Jindo County, South Jeolla, on April 16, 2014, sits on the National Maritime Safety Center building, which opened Thursday. The memorial center took eight years to build and is located 500 meters (0.3 miles) from Paengmok port, where families of the victims waited for the return of the passengers that went down with the ferry. Of the 304 dead and missing, 250 were students on a field trip. [YONHAP]
