Seventeen's 'The City' project to hit Bangkok next, ahead of concerts

Seventeen’s "The City" project will land in Bangkok on Saturday, ahead of its upcoming Bangkok concerts on Dec. 23 and Dec. 24, its agency HYBE said Monday.
 
“The City” is an event that aims to transform the entire city in which the band performs into a “concert play park,” offering various forms of entertainment for fans to enjoy.

The project will kick off on Saturday and run until Feb. 16, providing Seventeen’s fans in Bangkok for the concerts with weeks of extra Seventeen content.
 
HYBE will work with one of Thailand’s biggest retail distributors, Siam Piwat, to carry out the project. This is the first time for the Thailand company to carry out a joint project with a K-pop artist, according to the agency.

A Seventeen-themed pop-up store will open at Bangkok’s shopping mall Siam Discovery,  which will include an exhibition and an all-around mirror photo booth. Visitors can also buy the band’s official merchandise, including limited edition goods only sold at the Bangkok store.
 
Two cafes — Duck Donuts and Icon Siam — will be decorated for the group to celebrate its Bangkok concerts.
 
The band recently carried out “The City” project in five cities in Japan, including Osaka, Tokyo and Nagoya, some of which are still ongoing.
 
Events in Japan included a Ferris wheel in Nagoya’s shopping mall Sunshine Sakae and a special subway train wrapped with the members’ images. The band also did a joint project with Japanese Airline Star Flyer, getting a special airplane covered with images of the band.

Seventeen debuted in 2015 under Pledis Entertainment, one of HYBE's labels. It consists of 13 members: S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The 8, Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino. The band is known for hit songs such as "Very Nice" (2016), "Clap" (2017) and "Super." It released its most recent EP "Seventeenth Heaven" on Oct. 23.
 
The band recently won its first 2023 MAMA Awards' top honor award for Album of the Year at the 2023 MAMA Awards held on Nov. 28 and Nov. 29. Seventeen is also nominated for the Digital Song of the Year and Album of the Year awards at the upcoming 38th Golden Disc Awards, set to take place on Jan. 6.
