SM Entertainment seeks next K-pop stars with new global audition

SM Entertainment will begin a worldwide audition, “2024 SM Global Audition,” next month to find new faces for the K-pop scene, the agency said Tuesday.

“2024 SM Global Audition” will first take place in Seoul on Jan. 6. Further auditions will be held in Daegu; Busan; Daejeon; Wonju, Gangwon; Gwangju; and Jeju.

The global audition will also take place overseas including cities in Japan, the United States and Canada.

Anybody who was born between 2005 and 2013 can apply, regardless of sex and nationality, the agency said in a news release.

Online registration opened Tuesday. Applicants can register on the “2024 SM Global Audition” website.

Applicants who receive a final acceptance will have the opportunity to enter the agency’s training program and sign a contract, according to SM Entertainment.

Detailed information about the auditions will be posted on the audition’s official website and Instagram account.

SM Entertainment was established in 1995 by Lee Soo-man and has since become one of the biggest K-pop agencies in Korea. Lee left the agency in February, following the end of his contract, after being embroiled in conflicts regarding SM Entertainment's stocks and taxes. The agency is home to K-pop acts such as EXO, Red Velvet, NCT 127, NCT Dream, aespa, Riize and more.
