Hoodies with Seoul's city slogan sold out at Christmas market
Tourist hoodies and cups emblazoned with Seoul's city slogan, “Seoul, my soul,” were sold out at the Christmas market in Gwanghwamn over the weekend.
The gray sweatshirt embroidered with the city's new slogan was first worn by Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon in August when he announced the change from “I Seoul U” to “Seoul, my soul.” Seoulites preferred the slogan over other candidates in a public vote.
Along with the hoodie, the city government sold other tourist goods embossed or embroidered with the new city slogan, including cups and umbrellas, at the Christmas market in Gwanghwamun Square over the weekend. The gray hoodies were the first tourist goods the city manufactured to sell out.
The city is manufacturing more products to sell online.
The Christmas market at the square will run through Jan. 21, with local vendors selling goods, including ornaments, ceramic mugs and plates, jewelry and other accessories, as well as perfumes and handicrafts.
The market opens every day from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Marketgoers will also be greeted at the square by the annual Seoul Lanterns Festival, which also runs through Jan. 21. The color white is the theme of this year's festival.
