HO CHI MINH CITY — Mayor Oh Se-hoon encouraged people from Vietnam to visit Seoul and make the most of the capital’s cultural attractions.

Oh attended a “My Soul Seoul in Ho Chi Minh” tourism promotion event at the GEM Center on Tuesday, one part of his seven-day trip to Southeast Asia.

The mayor was hoping to revive tourism to Seoul after the Covid-19 pandemic by promoting Korea's beauty, fashion and K-pop industries.

At the event, visitors could get a glimpse of Seoul's tradition and modern aspects through mini catwalks featuring street style and Hanbok, or traditional dress. Other activities included beauty shows by top Korean makeup artist Sojung and hair artist Kiwoo.

Performances were done by the dance crew Hook from Mnet's popular dance competition show "Street Woman Fighter" (2021) and Highlight, a K-pop boy band.

Mayor Oh was scheduled to take to a runway in Hanbok at a fashion show and participate in a talk show with Korean-Vietnamese star Hari Won. Oh promoted Seoul Festa 2022, a series of events that kicks off on Aug. 10, and the reopening of Gwanghwamun Square on Aug. 6.

“The road to Seoul that was closed during the Covid-19 pandemic is now reopening,” Oh said in a press release. “Seoul City has prepared various festivals and tourism content to promote the charm of the city, including the upcoming Seoul Festa 2022 and the Seoul Beauty Road Festival.

“Attractions like Gwanghwamun Square will be reopened, and the Han River, which is loved by many people around the world, will be revamped, and places to visit at night in Seoul will be greatly increased, so that people can enjoy the dynamic side of the city 24/7.”
