Samsung Display expands scholarship to five more universities

Samsung Display announced Tuesday it will offer its display track scholarship at five more universities.

The scholarship is currently offered at Seoul National University, Pohang University of Science and Technology and KAIST, but it will also be offered at Yonsei, Korea, Sogang, Sungkyunkwan and Hanyang University.

Samsung Display signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to operate the scholarship with Yonsei University on Monday. The company will do so with the other four universities one-by-one, until Feb. 6.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students need to be enrolled in the second semester of their sophomore year or junior year on the partner universities' engineering programs.

Selected students get a full scholarship, along with an internship opportunity at Samsung Display and a job offer after graduation. Around 70 students in total will be selected from the eight universities every year.

Further details will emerge after the MOUs are signed.

"Technological competition among those in the display sector are intensifying, so it's crucial for companies to foster talent to maintain competitiveness," said Lee Jong-hyuk, vice president at Samsung Display, during the MOU signing ceremony with Yonsei University.

"Through the partnership with Yonsei University, we will be able to enhance the company and the industry's global competitiveness."
