Disney+ on Monday unveiled five new Korean projects slated for release later this year.
 
Starring Ju Ji-hoon from “Kingdom” and Han Hyo-joo from “Moving,” “Blood Free” follows a former bodyguard haunted by the failures of his past. After diving down a rabbit hole of tangled leads, he finds himself recruited to protect the CEO of a controversial lab-grown meat company who is also a survivor of the fateful attack that changed his life.

“Unmasked” follows a crack team of investigative journalists in modern-day Seoul who fight for their careers after broadcasting a controversial story. With time running out, the team is given an impossible task if the journalists want to save their jobs: solve a 20-year-old cold case involving a famous actor who disappeared without a trace. Leading the series is veteran actor Kim Hye-soo.
 
The action series “The Tyrant” follows a U.S. government agent as he tries to recover a deadly new virus stolen from the South Korean government and battle against nefarious parties to prevent the virus from spreading across the world. Actors Cha Seung-won, Kim Seon-ho and Kim Kang-woo have been cast in the series.

Crime-drama “Gangnam B-Side” starring Ji Chang-wook and Jo Woo-jin follows a pariah detective pulled back into the game after his daughter’s friend goes missing, the latest in a string of women to go missing in Seoul's affluent Gangnam District. The detective delves back into a world of vice, drugs and corruption to uncover something that threatens to topple some of the city’s wealthiest elites.

Reality game show “The Zone: Survival Mission” has been renewed for its third season with Girls Generation member and actor Kwon Yu-ri and comedian Yoo Jae-suk returning alongside new hosts — former UFC fighter Kim Dong-hyun and popular YouTuber Dex.
 
The five shows are joining two shows announced earlier this year by the platform: period drama “Uncle Samsik” starring Song Kang-ho and fantasy series “Light Shop” starring Park Bo-young and Ju Ji-hoon. 
 
“The new Korean originals announced today really build on the positive momentum and success of our APAC content slate last year," said Carol Choi, Executive Vice President, Original Content Strategy, The Walt Disney Company APAC, in a press release Monday. "We will continue to scale our creative ambition with a curated collection of APAC originals centered on quality storytelling and top talent in collaboration with the region’s most exciting storytellers." 
 
Disney+ launched its services in Korea in November 2021. Its notable original local content last year included "Moving" and "Big Bet."
