Snowfall in Seoul caused disruptions on subway services on Thursday morning, impacting lines No. 2, 5 and 7.

Seoul Metro alerted residents via its official website that the entire No. 5 line is experiencing delays of up to 25 minutes.

“Frozen train tracks at the train car garage in Gangdong District, eastern Seoul, have prevented operators from delivering trains to stations on time,” an official from Seoul Metro said.

Snowstorms also impact subway line No. 7 along its entire route, causing commuters to experience delays of 15 minutes.

On line No. 2, the city’s only circle line with aboveground tracks in some areas, subway drivers warned passengers that train cars may shake or stop due to slippery tracks. The line is facing delays of 10 minutes.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, Seoul received 13.8 centimeters (5.43 inches) of snowfall as of 7 a.m. on the same day.
