A composer in his 30s was arrested by the police and detained for walking around the streets of Gangnam topless while hallucinating after allegedly taking drugs Monday.

Gangnam Police Precinct arrested a composer, surnamed Choi, 39, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act and damaging property, according to the police Monday.

Choi is accused of taking methamphetamine in the early morning of Feb. 22, causing a disturbance at an unmanned cafe in Gangnam and destroying the furniture inside the cafe.

After leaving the cafe, Choi walked around the streets shirtless despite rush-hour traffic and heavy snow.

The police were dispatched at 8 a.m. after receiving a report that a man was walking shirtless in the Seolleung-ro area in Gangnam. They picked up Choi and brought him to the police station. Another report came through that a syringe and other drug-related materials were found at a cafe, and after cross-checking, the police found that the second case also involved Choi.

A simple drug reagent test was conducted on Choi, and the results returned positive.

The police emergency arrested Choi and applied for a formal arrest warrant, and the Seoul Central District Court held a warrant review of the suspect on Feb. 24, after which a warrant was issued.
