Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation is expanding its global scholarship to cover visiting students.

The foundation announced Tuesday it signed a memorandum of understanding with Seoul National University, Korea University, Yonsei University and Hanyang University to create a scholarship for Asean students who want to study in Korea as a visiting student.

Visiting students can earn credits at another university, similar to exchange students. However, students from universities that don't partner with the host institution can come to study through the visiting student program.

Those who wish to apply have to be of Asean nationality and selected students will be offered the opportunity to study at the four universities as visiting students for two semesters.

The students will get full tuition for the two semesters, along with a stipend and settlement expenses. According to the foundation, the scholarship will total 23 million won ($17,200) each.

Students will also be able to participate in summer camp sessions, cultural activities and networking events organized by the foundation.

Further details about the application process will be announced in the future.

The foundation also has another scholarship for international students, offering full scholarships to Asean students pursuing master's and doctorate programs at Seoul National University, Korea University, Yonsei University, Hanyang University, KAIST and the KDI School of Public Policy and Management, since 2020.
