Purchases at Kyung Hee University's cafeteria and cafes can be made by a simple face scan starting Monday, according to Naver Financial.

Students and visitors will be able to pay by scanning their faces at kiosks installed with Naver's FaceSign, available in front of the cafeteria and cafes at Kyung Hee University's Seoul campus in Dongdaemun District, central Seoul.

FaceSign is an AI-based facial recognition system, introduced by Naver in August last year.

Those who wish to use the facial recognition payment service need to set up Naver Pay and register their face via the Naver Pay application.

FaceSign only used to be available at Naver 1784, Naver's office in Pangyo, Gyeonggi. Employees could scan their faces through FaceSign to enter the Naver 1784 building and make purchases at the company cafeteria and convenience store in the building.

Naver Financial aims to gather feedback from users at Kyung Hee University, apply the feedback and expand the service to other university campuses, companies and amusement parks.
