Mingles was named the best restaurant in Korea by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants on Tuesday at Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Gangnam District, southern Seoul.

The establishment placed No. 13 on the overall list. Three other Korean restaurants were also named: 7th Door took No. 18, Onjium took No. 21 and Mosu placed No. 41.

Sezanne in Tokyo, Japan, was named 2024’s best restaurant in Asia.

Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list is a spinoff of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. Launched in 2013, it aims to celebrate gastronomy and act as a gourmet guide for diners around the globe. The annual list is selected via votes from a group of 318 restaurant-industry leaders across Asia. It covers 26 countries in East and Southeast Asia.

Seoul hosted the awards for the first time this year. Some 800 industry leaders, experts and chefs reportedly gathered in the city for the event.

"It feels like spring has truly come now that you are all here," Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said during Tuesday's unveiling ceremony. "I congratulate all the winners of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants."
