Korea Craft Week 2024 kicks off Friday and continues until May 26.

Hosted and organized annually by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Craft and Design Foundation (KCDF), Korea Craft Week is a nationwide event that ranges from exhibitions, flea markets, seminars and hands-on programs that promote the crafts genre.

This year is the seventh edition and the theme is “Urban – Life – Craft Studio.” The Culture Ministry and KCDF has designated four areas to hold special programs: Goseong County in Gangwon, Jeonju in North Jeolla, Buan County in North Jeolla and Jinju in South Gyeongsang.

The programs will be customized to fit each area’s characteristics, such as Jeonju’s programs to take place in its hanok (traditional Korean house) village. Buan will have celadon-related programs as it is known as the historic site for celadons from the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392).

In Seoul, some notable venues to visit are the Boan1942 cultural center, which will have tea-making programs, and the Seoul Museum of Craft Art, which will have seminars featuring craftspeople.
