The Hanji Culture and History Center reopened with renovations and additions under a new name, Hanji House, the Korea Craft & Design Foundation (KCDF) said Thursday.

Located in central Seoul's Bukchon neighborhood, the center was founded in May 2020 to celebrate the culture and history of Korea's traditional paper hanji through exhibitions and education programs. It is jointly managed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the KCDF.

The remake was centered on upgrading the center's existing exhibition space and the hanji merchandise sold at the center's gift shop on the first floor. The experience zone in the basement floor will now include an archive, a learning center and a photo studio where visitors can print their photographs on hanji.

Information on 18 hanji workshops across the country will also be available at the Hanji House.

An exhibition titled "Silence: The Memory of Generation" kicked off on Tuesday to celebrate the reopening of the hanji center.

Hanji House is open every day except on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Opening hours extend to 9 p.m. every last Wednesday of the month. Find out more at the KCDF website
