Gallery Vinci is hosting a special exhibition titled “Utopia: Envisioning an Ideal Society" at various locations in Damyang County, South Jeolla. According to the gallery, the exhibition, which kicked off on July 1, explores an ideal world through human imagination and hope.

The venues showcasing the exhibition are Gwanbangjerim Forest, Damyang History & Culture Park and Damyang Cultural Center. The exhibition runs until Aug. 30.

The exhibition showcases some 50 art pieces from 11 artists, including Park Jeong-gu’s installation titled “Imagination Is the Lifeblood of Existence” and Kim Hyun A’s painting “Wave.”

"Imagination is the Lifeblood of Existence" is a 10 meter (32 feet) long inflatable piece, which will be displayed among seven other pieces that are also inflatables.

“Utopia: Envisioning an Ideal Society” is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Damyang County Office and Korea Arts Management Service.

“We hope visitors will come to Damyang to fully enjoy the art and culture,” said chief curator Choi Da-young.

“This exhibition will provide an inspiring experience, conveying messages of imagination and hope beyond reality,” said Damyang mayor Lee Byung-no.

“I particularly admired the adaptability of water and the expressive techniques in Kim Hyun A’s ‘Wave.’ As this is a valuable exhibition featuring many local artists, I hope many people will visit Damyang to enjoy the art and culture.”
