Hanyang University announced Thursday it will host the 2024 Global Festival with 10 other Seoul universities, offering students opportunities to collaborate with local companies.

The Global Festival, also known as the 2024 Industrial LINCage Festival for Global Leaders, will take place at Hanyang University's campus from Aug. 5 to 15.

The festival invites 247 Korean and international students from 11 Seoul-based universities that are part of LINC3.0, such as Kyung Hee University, Korea University and Kookmin University, to visit companies in Seoul and work on projects to solve real-life problems. LINC3.0 is a government program that aims to facilitate industry-academia partnerships.

Programs will be hosted in English, with 118 participants being international students and 129 Korean nationals.

The students will visit 23 Seoul companies in sectors such as AI, bio, secondary batteries, e-commerce and content production. They will work on team projects to find solutions to current company challenges, with solutions being pitched at a symposium on Aug. 12. Outstanding groups will receive awards.

Students will also receive mentoring from company employees as part of the program.

"The Global Festival holds significant meaning because it brings together the local government, companies and universities to find ways to develop the region using fields the universities specialize in," said Kim Hak-sung, a Hanyang University professor in charge of the school's LINC3.0 program. "We expect the 2024 Global Festival to act as a bridge connecting Seoul, its companies and global youth."
