BMW, Volvo, Hyundai Motor to recall more than 78,000 vehicles

BMW Korea and two other carmakers will voluntarily recall more than 78,000 vehicles due to faulty components, the Transport Ministry said Thursday.

The three companies, including Volvo Trucks Korea and Hyundai Motor, are recalling a combined 78,218 vehicle units across 67 models, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said in a statement.

BMW Korea will recall 68,428 vehicles across 62 models, including the BMW 520i, due to a potential reduction in braking performance caused by a defect in the integrated braking system.

The ministry said Volvo Trucks will recall 6,998 vehicles from four models, including the FH tractor, due to a design flaw in the variable axle control system.

Hyundai Motor will also undergo corrective measures for 2,792 Genesis Coupe units due to a defect in the clutch pedal component, which could lead to the vehicle starting and moving even without the pedal being pressed.
