International BTS fan coalition opposes demands for Suga to leave band amid DUI case

International members of boy band BTS's fan club ARMY shot down demands for member Suga to quit the band following his DUI case, adding that BTS is a seven-member band.

A total of 127 BTS fan organizations from 58 countries issued a joint statement on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday.

“The Global ARMY Alliance supports all seven members of BTS,” read the statement, which was provided in both Korean and English. “The Global ARMY Alliance does not ask BTS members to take any more responsibility than legally required."

The alliance said “a small number of people have recently released statements through the media claiming opinions that are contrary to the beliefs of the overwhelming majority of ARMY."

It also urged the media to not give credibility to individuals with unconfirmed representation.

The singer came under fire last month when he was found driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of 0.227 percent on Aug. 6, far exceeding the threshold for license revocation set at 0.08 percent. He was summoned for police questioning on Aug. 23 and admitted to the charges.

Suga’s DUI case was handed over to the prosecution on Aug. 30.
