Actor Lee Young-ae spends Chuseok at $7,000 hanok hotel

Actor Lee Young-ae revealed through social media that she'd spent her Chuseok holiday at a luxury hanok (traditional Korean house) hotel in Yeongwol County, Gangwon. 
 
The 53-year-old, best known as the lead of 2003 historical drama “Dae Jang Geum,” posted photos of herself at the property on Monday. The hotel, which local reports have identified as The Hanok Heritage House, operates largely on memberships and charges nonmembers an estimated 10 million won ($7,550) per night.

Lee debuted in a chocolate advertisement in 1990 and began acting through the KBS drama series “How's Your Husband?” in 1993. Her prominent works include films “Last Present” (2001), “Lady Vengeance” (2005) and “Bring Me Home” (2019), as well as dramas “Saimdang, Memoir of Colors” (2017) and “Maestra” (2023). 
 
Her most representative work, “Dae Jang Geum,” aired its 54-episode run with a peak 57 percent viewership rating and garnered massive popularity overseas as well as domestically. Lee received many accolades including a MBC Drama Award in 2003, solidifying her position as a Hallyu star.
