The Korean government will provide $500,000 in humanitarian aid to Laos to support the nation's relief efforts in response to the recent typhoon and floods, the Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.

"The [Korean] government hopes that this assistance will support the recovery of the affected areas and help residents in those areas swiftly return to their daily lives," the ministry said.

The disaster reportedly affected 176,000 people as well as agricultural land and roads in a total 100 districts across 15 provinces in northern and central Laos as of Sept. 16, according to the ministry.
