This figure allows the film to continue holding its No. 1 position, a spot it has held since Sept. 17. Its cumulative audience figure now sits at 6,411,856 as of Sunday.

The film also outperformed the animated film “Transformers One” and the romance film “Begin Again” (2014), which secured 125,050 and 38,600 admissions, respectively, from Friday to Sunday.

As of Monday morning, more than 49,800 reservations were made for “I, The Executioner,” placing it second in presale tickets, behind " Joker: Folie à Deux,” which had 93,940 reservations and will hit local theaters on Oct. 1

A sequel to the "Veteran" (2015), “I, The Executioner” follows veteran detective Seo Do-cheol, played by Hwang Jung-min, and rookie detective Park Sun-woo, portrayed by actor Jung Hae-in, as they chase after a new villain. This time, the duo tracks a serial killer who taunts law enforcement and plunges the country into chaos.
