Singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu to have first solo concert in Korea next year

Japanese singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu will hold his first solo concert in Korea in March next year, concert organizer Live Nation Korea said Tuesday.

The artist's agency unveiled the schedule for his world tour, "Kenshi Yonezu 2025 Tour / Junk." The tour spans several regions with stops in Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Europe and the United States.

The singer-songwriter will perform tracks from his latest album alongside his iconic hits like "Lemon" (2020) during his first-ever concert in Korea. The concert will take place at the Inspire Arena at Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort on Yeongjong Island, Incheon, on March 22 and 23 next year.

Presales will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on Oct. 14 on the official Live Nation Korea website, and general sales will begin on Oct. 15 at noon exclusively on Interpark. The tips for booking the tickets are available on the official Live Nation Korea website and on its official social media accounts.

Yonezu began releasing music on digital music platform Vocaloid under the stage name Hachi in 2009. In 2012, he debuted under his real name, with his first official album, "Diorama." He rose to global fame with his hit "Lemon," which became the fastest Japanese song to reach 3 million downloads and 800 million views on YouTube.

In 2022, his opening theme song for the TV anime "Chainsaw Man," "Kick Back," became the first Japanese song to receive a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America, which is awarded to songs or albums that sell 500,000 units.

In Korea, a number of K-pop artists, such as BTS member Jungkook and VIVIZ member Umji, as well as actors like Kim Nam-gil and Lee Joon-gi have covered his songs, including "Lemon."
