Coldplay to celebrate 'Moon Music' release with drone show in Seoul

Coldplay will fly 1,000 drones in Seoul's sky to celebrate the release of its new album on Friday.

The drone light show, a collaboration with the capital city's metropolitan government, will take place at Ttukseom Hangang Park in eastern Seoul at 8 p.m. the same day.

Coldplay's 10th studio album, “Moon Music,” includes 10 tracks, including “WE PRAY,” which topped the iTunes charts in August and “feelslikeimfallinginlove,” nominated in two categories at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Band frontman Chris Martin described the album as “our response to all the conflict, both internal and external,” adding that “it’s the way we as a band feel about everything. The way we try to stay positive in a world where it feels like there’s so much negativity. The way we try to keep things together when there are some forces trying to pull them apart.”

The album will be the world's first released on “EcoRecord rPET LP” vinyl. Each LP contains the equivalent of nine recycled PET plastic bottles, preventing the production of more than 25 tons of new plastic and slashing carbon dioxide emissions by 85 percent compared to those of traditional ones.

The British rock band is set to perform its first Korean concert in eight years at the Goyang Stadium in Gyeonggi on April 16, 18, 19, 22, 24 and 25.
