Back for the first time in a year and a half, girl group Billlie took the time to look back on the things that they lost and learn how to cherish each other.

“This album is about the things that we temporarily lost, the things that are so dear to us,” Moon Sua told reporters during a press showcase held Wednesday in central Seoul for the release of the group’s fifth EP, “appendix: Of All We Have Lost.”

“It’s a little different from the albums that we’ve released so far. It sheds light on our inner thoughts, especially about the journey of realizing the things and memories that we’ve lost due to our very own circumstances."

“appendix: Of All We Have Lost” is the girl group’s first new album in over a year and a half since its fourth EP, “the Billage of perception: Chapter Three,” was released in March 2023. The group had dropped several singles in between, but did not release a major project due to members Suhyeon and Moon Sua taking a break last year.

Billlie debuted in October 2021 with its first EP “the Billage of perception: chapter one.” The seven-member group consists of Moon Sua, Suhyeon, Haram, Tsuki, Siyoon, Haruna and Sheon. Moon and Suhyeon took time off, each due to their personal hardships and health issues.

“I really want to thank the members for welcoming me back after all that time and making me realize that we’re Billie no matter what,” Moon said. “I really hope that we become happier together.”

“I’m so grateful for the fans and members who kept their place through everything and made us shine like this,” Suhyeon said, echoing Moon’s message. “We really put everything into this album, so we hope you look forward to see you what we’ve prepared for you.”

The septet has ventured into new music genres with its fifth album, including city pop, indie pop, Nu jazz, new wave and more with the six tracks, according to the members. The album has two lead tracks: “remembrance candy” and “trampoline,” and the latter was released on Oct. 11 prior to the publication of the album.

Notably, singer-songwriter IU wrote the lyrics for “remembrance candy.”

“We were so honored to have IU, who we look up to so much, work with us,” Haram said. “She also recorded the narration voice for our teaser video. I’m so happy that we got to come back with a collaboration with IU, our role model.”

Billlie kicked off its first world tour, “Our Flowerld (Billlie’ve You),” with performances in Europe. The group is set to continue its journey in the Americas with a concert in Jersey City on Nov. 15.

“We remember every moment of the tour,” Haruna said. “Everything felt so new for us because it was the first time performing in Europe. It was such a precious memory.”
