BMW Ladies Championship postponed as greens flood

The second round of the BMW Ladies Championship, the lone LPGA tournament held in Korea each fall, was postponed Friday due to heavy downpour.

The second round at Seowon Hills at Seowon Valley Country Club in Paju, northwest of Seoul in Gyeonggi Province, was halted at 1:05 p.m. About 40 minutes later, organizers decided to postpone the round to Saturday instead due to unplayable course conditions.

The final group of Hannah Green of Australia, Ashleigh Buhai of South Africa and Jenny Shin of Korea had completed nine holes by the time play was halted.

Those three players shared the opening-round lead at eight-under, and when play was suspended, Green was in the lead at 12-under after picking up four birdies on the front nine. Buhai was two back of Green, with Shin having fallen to a four-way tie for third at eight-under. That group included Lydia Ko, world No. 3 and the reigning Olympic champion.

The LPGA said the second round will resume at 8 a.m. Saturday. There will be no re-pairing and the third round will begin at 9:48 a.m.

Among other notable players, Minjee Lee, the defending champion from Australia, was one-over through 13 holes for the second round and four-under overall.

There is no cut at this 72-hole, $2 million tournament featuring 78 players.
