Asean-Korea Tourism Capacity Building Workshop
Siem Reap, Cambodia
The Asean-Korea Centre, together with the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia, will organize the Asean-Korea Tourism Capacity Building Workshop from Oct. 30 to 31 in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Held under the theme “Digital Tourism and E-marketing,” the workshop aims to identify trends and opportunities in the rapidly transforming tourism industry as well as support Cambodia’s digital marketing strategies to attract more Korean and foreign travelers.
Policy and marketing experts from the Korean Tourism Organization, Glance TV (a leading omni-channel in Korea), and NHN Doctortour Corporation (a major online travel agency in Korea) will share their marketing know-how as well as best practices and success stories of how they are responding and adjusting to the digital transformation of tourism. The experts will also exchange views with the Cambodian participants on ways to further develop and consolidate the competitiveness of the tourism industry, including through public-private partnerships in the increasingly competitive digital era. Furthermore, in order to attract more Korean visitors, participants will explore possible tourism products and services tailored to Korean travelers based on analyses of recent trends in Korean tourism.
Tourism, which makes up 32.8 percent (as of 2018) of Cambodia’s GDP is one of the key drivers of Cambodia’s economic growth. In this regard, the Asean-Korea Tourism Capacity Building Workshop is expected to facilitate Cambodia’s adjustment to the digital transformation of tourism as well as provide an occasion for expanding Korea-Cambodia tourism cooperation into new areas. Also, the workshop is expected to contribute to revitalizing Koreans’ travel to Cambodia. Korea used to be the largest foreign tourist group in Cambodia, however, the numbers have been decreasing in recent years.
Meanwhile, the Korean government, under the New Southern Policy, aims to reach 15 million in reciprocal visits with Asean, including Cambodia, by expanding people-to-people exchanges through promoting tourism.

Walking tour of Raknus Selu Trail RSA-41
The organization that manages the Jeju Olle Trail is heading to Taiwan to celebrate their ties with an organization that manages Raknus Selu Trail RSA-41 in Taiwan, one of the most well-known trails in the country.
The trail is located in the northwest of the island and includes jaw-dropping natural environments as well as remnants of a number of cultural heritage sites.
The relationship between the two trails is part of a global project managed by organizers of the Jeju Olle Trail.
Through the project, the organizations work together to promote their trails outside of their home country. Jeju Olle is set to work with 11 trail organization from 10 different countries, including Greece and Canada.
It is the second time that the Jeju Olle Trail is hosting an overseas walking tour. The first took place from August to September in Switzerland.
During the four-day trip, hikers will be accompanied by trekking professionals along the trail and will tour around cities nearby. The organization is recruiting 35 participants, and spaces are available on a first come, first served basis.

Tavolo 24, the restaurant at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul, celebrates the arrival of autumn with “Taste of Sea,” a Sichuan seafood promotion combining seasonal delicacies with the unique flavors and spicy aromas of mala sauce.
This season’s promotional menu features Sichuan-style seafood favorites including cold dishes crafted from fan mussels, sea squirts, abalone, white sea snails, clams, squid and conch flown in fresh from China, plus hot dishes including steamed scallops, snow crab and blue crab, as well as Sichuan specialty mala crawfish, crispy deep-fried sea cucumber and eel and huajiao eel.
Guests choosing the Taste of Sea promotional menu will also be served a bowl of richly-flavored malatang, featuring authentic Chinese-style spicy broth with vegetables and seafood, at the table.
The promotion is available at dinner time on weekdays and during brunch and dinner service on weekends and is priced at 98,000 won ($84) per person including a 10 percent tax and 10 percent service charge. Tavolo 24, the venue for this autumn’s promotion, is an all-day restaurant offering panoramic views of the historic Seoul landmark Heunginjimun Gate. Tavolo 24 serves unique Korean dishes crafted from the finest local ingredients, complemented by a diverse selection of European, Southeast Asian, Japanese and Chinese dishes to offer a truly international epicurean experience.

Muan, South Jeolla, to Guam
From Dec. 24 to March 7
Those who live close to Muan, South Jeolla, no longer have to travel all the way to Incheon International Airport to fly to Guam. Jeju Air will run a daily flight from Muan to Guam beginning Dec. 24 to cater better to travelers looking to escape the cold Korean winter.
The flight will depart at 8:30 a.m. from Muan everyday except Tuesday and will arrive in Guam at 1:40 p.m. The departure to Guam will be one hour earlier on Tuesdays, at 7:30 a.m.
The flight back to Muan from Guam will depart at 3:40 p.m. every day and arrive in Muan at 7:20 p.m.
Reservations can be made on the airline’s website as well as its mobile application. If travelers choose the FlyBag+ option, they can check in two bags and change their itinerary once for free, if any last minute changes need to be made.
In-flight meals should be ordered at least three days in advance from the departure date.
