The Chinese coast guard apprehended five suspects involved in smuggling more than 20 people into Korea earlier this month.
All 22 Chinese individuals attempting to smuggle into Korea through Boryeong, South Chungcheong, were apprehended. Initially, 21 Chinese nationals were taken into custody but one individual managed to flee to Ansan in Gyeonggi using a taxi.
The Boryeong Mud Festival surpassed its 1.2 million people target, according to the South Chungcheong provincial government and the city of Boryeong, which organized the event.

The 23rd Boryeong Mud Festival, which was initially slated to run for 10 days starting July 17, will be replaced with an online festival to feature various mud-themed games and activities, the city said in a statement.
