SK Nexilis has inked a deal with Germany’s Varta to supply copper foil, a critical battery material in making electric vehicle batteries.
SKC is spending 900 billion won ($760 million) to build a battery copper foil factory in Poland. Copper foil is a key component in lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles (EVs).
SK Nexilis, a wholly owned subsidiary of KRX-listed SKC, will establish a copper foil factory in Europe in what could be an 800 billion won ($627 million) investment.
Huge rolls of copper foil floated across the room, hovering above the human workers at SK Nexilis’ fourth factory in Jeongeup on Monday. The company is one of the world’s top six suppliers of copper foil in batteries.
