Unemployed Workers Training Program Fails Inspection

The state-supported unemployed workers training program is operating illegally. The Ministry of Labor (MOL) announced on September 29 that it discovered 209 training centers which are operating illegally. MOL excluded 25 institutions from state funds, and issued warnings to 111 others, and ordered 73 to change ongoing operations.
The institutions were failing to buy disability insurance for participants, not monitoring trainees' attendance and absence, and not providing enough trainers and facilities. Additionally, some institutions received illegal fees from trainees and did not provide trainees with any job information. The government secured a 278.8 billion won budget and will spend 260 billion won to train 236,000 unemployed workers.
