Pres. Kim to Visit China

President Kim Dae Jung will visit China on November 11 to the 15th as a state guest. He will participate in the sixth Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on November 19.
Kim will have a summit meeting with Jiang Zemin, the president of China concerning Korea-China relationship development, maintaining peace in northeastern Asia, and the economic crisis in Asia. A joint statement will be issued will follow the meetings.
Park Ji Won, a Chung Wa Dae spokesman said, 'This visit will be a good chance to improve the Korea-China relationship for partnership for the 21st century.' During the President's visit, a treaty for criminal investigation cooperation and an agreement for double visas will be concluded. Additionally, a fisheries agreement is likely to be concluded.
At the APEC summit, Kim plans to urge joint efforts from member countries to overcome the economic crisis in Asia. The APEC summit will discuss the problems of financial crisis and free trade investment among member countries.
