Gov"t Plans to Ban Sexual Harassment

The government announced its efforts to address sexual harassment in the workplace, on January 22.
The Ministry of Labor(MOL) plans to ban, through regulations, those acts including speech and physical gestures that cause or induce sexual humiliation or can be deemed sexual harassment.
Physical acts including unwanted touching of another person's body regardless of the body part, unsolicited kissing, as well as speech that contains sexual metaphors or an assessment of a member of the opposite sex's external features will be deemed sexual harassment. Even intense staring or leering in an inappropriate way at an office member could be regarded as sexual harassment.
Those who feel they have encountered sexual harassment in any form should immediately request the action or speech to cease. If the request is not honored, they can request that the owner or management punish the offender by transferring the offender to another area and possible termination or suspension from the workplace.
