Upheaval in Prosecutor"s Office

An upheaval and shake-up in prosecutors' offices throughout the country is expected stemming from the aftermath of the corruption scandal in Taejon. The Central Investigation Department of the National Prosecution Administration plans to investigate high-ranking prosecutors and justices who are allegedly involved in bribery and kickbacks similar to those recently revealed in Taejon.
Some prosecutors are resisting a crackdown by stating, 'They are looking for scapegoats.'
On other fronts, the friction between prosecutors and normal officials in prosecutors' offices is worsening.
Many civil servants have expressed complaints because of a decision not to punish prosecutors allegedly involved in scandals while six non-lawyer officials have been arrested.
There are rumors emerging from the Taejon District Prosecutor's Office which state, 'The Prosecutor's Office has designated that the criteria for indictment will be five million won worth of bribes because there are too many prosecutors who have received three million won worth of bribes.'
