Cheju Island Designated a "Pure Site"
The Ministry of Environment(MOE) on January 28 approved a motion to designate Cheju Island a 'Pure Site' in order to preserve the popular tourist destination's pristine conditions.Accordingly, the MOE significantly increased environmental criteria for air and water quality on Cheju Island.
On Cheju Island, the standards on water quality will be raised tenfold while criteria for air quality will be increased by two or three times existing standards.
