Cheju Tourism Recovers

Tourism for Cheju Island, which has been sluggish since last year, is revitalizing this year.
Cheju's local government announced on March 17 that the number of tourists who visited the Island up to now this year increased by 4.5 percent to 616,000 (Koreans 584,000, Foreigners 32,000).
The number of foreigners surged by as much 28 percent year to year, Koreans by 3.5 percent and the total ammount of tour revenue jumped by 3.8 percent to 139.458 billion won.
The increase can be attributed to the gradual recovery of the Korean economy and aggressive inducement for tourists by Cheju's local authority.
