Prosecution Starts Investigation on "Underhand Methods" Remark

Seoul District Prosecution's Office Tuesday began its investigation of the remark made by congressman Jung Hyung-keun at the Pusan rally organized by the opposition Grand National Party (GNP), in which he said that President Kim Dae-jung ordered the creation of the press coercion paper through underhand methods. Meanwhile the ruling National Congress for New Politics (NCNP) filed a lawsuit against Jung for libel of the President.
The NCNP claimed in its written complaint, 'Although Jung stated our party's vice-president Lee Jong-chan reported the paper to the President while the President directed the plot, this has seriously damaged President Kim's reputation.'
