&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93Highway executive rues protests

Users of the Gyeongbu Expressway had a great deal of inconvenience Friday because of a slow-driving protest by Vietnam War veterans.
Last month, farmers opposed to a free trade agreement with Chile also blocked the highway for a demonstration.
It is a pity that protests are held on major highways in the country. As an employee of the Korea Highway Corporation, I regret the problems that face drivers and passengers using the road.
Highways are important; they could be compared to human arteries. If highways cannot be used to bring goods to markets and people to their destinations, it is little different from the damage a blocked artery can cause to a human. I hope these protests end.
