South Korean fishing boats sail in the country’s northern Jeo Island fishery grounds bordering North Korea in the East Sea on Monday. The area, which is abundant in octopi, snow crabs, sea cucumbers and sea squirts, is open between April and December to local fishermen living nearby under the Navy’s protection against possible North Korean provocations.
