Indie film & video fest opens today

Mar 21,2019
The Association of Korean Independent Film & Video announced Wednesday that it will be hosting the Seoul Independent Documentary Film & Video Festival starting today, until next Thursday, at Lotte Cinema Hongdae, western Seoul.

The festival, which celebrates its 19th edition this year, will be screening 51 Korean and foreign films in total, including 31 short and long documentaries written by rookie scriptwriters.

The list of Korean movies that will be screened includes “The Strangers,” “How to Stop Being Korean,” “Glow Job” and “On the Edge of 75 Metres,” all from last year.

Not all of the movies, however, will come along with English or Korean subtitles. Foreign movies including “Along the One Way” (2016) and “Phantom of Illumination” (2017) will be screened with both Korean and English subtitles.

The festival also includes Southeast Asian documentary forums and panel events with the audience after each screening.
