Venerable Beopjeong dies from lung cancer
According to the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, he suffered for three to four years with lung cancer.
Born in Haenam, South Jeolla in 1932, he was ordained in 1956 under Venerable Hyobong.
His 1976 book, "Non-possession," became a million seller. Venerable Beopjeong went on to write around 30 books in his lifetime.
During his lifetime, he also served as the editor-in-chief of a Buddhist publishing company and translated many Buddhist canon into Korean.
