U-Kiss a hit in Japan

The debut Japanese single from Korean band U-Kiss has reached number three in the Oricon chart.

On Dec. 14 hundreds of fans gathered at Tower Records Tower in Tokyo for the launch of “Tick Tack” and thousands more bought a copy, leaving some fans exasperated as stores began running out.

The band’s agency, NH Media, said “We were surprised at how well the band did. The enormous popularity of the band’s debut was unexpected.”
In addition to the release of their debut single, the band will release their second single and first official album in February. In March U-Kiss will begin a Japanese tour.

The band was as surprised as anyone by the number of fans that were waiting for them. “We look forward to being active in Japan and will work hard to repay the love and support from our fans.”

U-Kiss will also attend “Hi Touch” events throughout Japan until the end of the year. At these events fans can say hi and shake hands with the band members. Meanwhile a former member of the band, Alexander, is making headlines in Korea after launching his solo career with a digital album on Dec. 12.
