KARA releases cell phone application for learning Korean and Japanese.

Girl group KARA’s agency DSP Media said that on Dec. 22 applications called KARA’s Korean Travel and KARA’s Japanese Travel will be made available for purchase by smartphone users in Japan and Korea.

The application was developed in a joint venture with Cowon Media and caters to Japanese tourists and fans who want to learn basic Korean as well as to Korean fans who want to learn basic Japanese for travel purposes.

As well as containing 400 conversational phrases, the application teaches users about each nation’s greetings, transport system, accommodations and dining-out options. It also includes pictures of the group’s members, record information and music clips.

The application’s pen-pal function allows users to connect with each other, and there is also a translator and a fan letter function through which fans can send messages to KARA.

“The whole band participated in the recording process, and in order to get the pronunciation of the words right, a professional voice actor was hired,” DSP Media said.

The applications were made available for the iPhone and iPad on Dec. 22, and the Android version will be released in January.
