JYJ member Kim Jae-joong donates 50 million won to his alma maters

On Dec. 27, C-JeS Entertainment announced that boy band JYJ’s Kim Jae-joong has donated 50 million won ($43,200) to his elementary and middle schools in South Chungcheong.

“Kim made a donation of 20 million won to Gongju Jungdong Elementary School and another 30 million won to the Attached Middle School to the College of Education at Kongju National University,” the agency said.

Kim also sent a personally written message along with the donation to the schools.

“As an alumnus, I wanted to make a difference to the students who are attending the schools that I went to. I would have loved to have delivered the donation myself and be reunited with my teachers and fellow students. In the future I hope to make a personal visit,” the entertainer said.

The schools announced that the donations made by the star will be used to purchase books for students and equipment for physical education.

Meanwhile, Kim has been busy jetting around Asia with work commitments both as part of his band and as a solo artist and actor.

On Dec. 10, he attended a solo fan meeting in Shanghai, where 4,000 fans flocked to Shanghai International Gymnastics Center for a chance to meet and greet Kim.
