Drug dog digs his new home

Edge, right, the hardworking 11-year-old drug-sniffing dog turned blood donor, now a free dog at last, howls in the spacious backyard of his new home in Cheongju, North Chungcheong, with his two new buddies. The U.S.-born Labrador retriever, who had a formal retirement ceremony on Feb. 2, found a warm place to rest his paws at the house of a 53-year-old from Cheongju, surnamed Son. The JoongAng Ilbo reported last month that if Edge, who sniffed out illegal drugs at Incheon International Airport for six years before becoming a blood donor at Seoul National University, was not adopted, he may have to be euthanized. Son, seeing the article, immediately contacted the Seoul National University Hospital for Animals and applied to adopt Edge.
