Last week it was revealed that “Gangnam Style” was the No. 1 most-searched keyword on Australian Google for the year.
The search giant released a list of key words that netizens were hooked on for 2012 on Thursday. Along with the Korean rapper’s hit song, the list also included the singing-survival show “The Voice,” the Olympics, Hurricane Sandy and singer Whitney Houston as well as Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s speech on sexism, in which she called the opposition leader a “hypocrite.”
Psy was in Australia for a few days back in October for a three-day promotional tour. He appeared on “The Voice” as well as on a talk show.
The list for the search engine’s U.S. counterpart looked similar, although Houston’s death was at the top of the list, pushing Psy to second.
To date, Psy’s video has been watched more than 946 million times while accumulating one billion “likes” on YouTube.
