Boyish girl group to make its debut

Boyish looking girls gathered to make a new trend in the K-pop scene. GI, an acronym for Global Icon, will make its debut next month, saying that it will be different from the stereotype of a K-pop girl group.

“We have a different concept and style from other cute and sexy girl groups that are introduced almost once every week,” said the group’s agency Simtong Entertainment, according to Ilgan Sports, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily, yesterday. “The group will make a remarkable presence in a monotonous entertainment scene.”

Four members of the five-member group have short haircuts and wear boyish clothing in jackets and pants in a photo released yesterday on the group’s official fan cafe.

The first teaser video for the group’s upcoming album will be released Tuesday through the agency’s official YouTube channel.
