Miss Korea crowned at pageant

With the conclusion of the Miss Korea pageant on Tuesday, Korea now has a representative for the international competition.

Yoo Ye-bin of Daegu received the top honor at the pageant, which was held at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. The 22-year-old, who studies fabric design at Gyeongsang National University in Jinju, South Gyeongsang, beat out 54 other contestants to win.

Han Ji-eun of Incheon and Kim Hyo-hee of South Jeolla were named runners-up, while Kim Min-ju of North Chungcheong received the third-highest honor.

Actress Kwak Ka-hyun of MBC drama “The Horse Healer” received no prize after criticism that her fame provided an unfair advantage during the regional competition in Seoul. Netizens now speculate that her professional career may have proved disadvantageous in the end. By Lee Sun-min
