BoA giving ‘Hope’ a try

Singer BoA will meet with fans through the small screen in the KBS drama “Hope for Dating.”

It is the first time she will act in a TV drama, although she made a special appearance in the SBS drama “Athena: Goddess of War” in 2010.

In the two-episode drama, BoA will play Ju Yeon-ae, a woman in her 20s who fails in relationships repeatedly as she always becomes attracted to bad boys. Her counterpart will be Choi Daniel of KBS’ “Baby Faced Beauty.”

“I was impressed by the volition BoA had with some serious passion for the drama,” said producer Lee Eun-jin of the program.

“I’m very much looking forward to working with BoA, the actress, and [fans] will be able to discover her new charm.”

The drama is a pilot program and it has yet to be decided whether it will be extended. If it becomes a regular TV program, the production team will keep the two lead characters.

However, BoA has already tried acting while filming the movie “Make Your Move” in 2011.

The movie, whose trailer has been released last month, is scheduled to hit theaters in Europe within this month. The exact date has not been announced yet. The Korean release hasn’t been scheduled, either. It features BoA competing with other dancers who grew up in a different household. Romantic feelings grow between her and a male dancer, played by Derek Hough.
