Dickpunks go terrestrial

The boy group Dickpunks, former contestant of the survival audition program “Super Star K4” on cable channel Mnet, made it to a program on a terrestrial channel, even though broadcasters normally refrain from presenting former contestants of audition shows produced by cable channels or other broadcasters.

After singer Roy Kim of the “Super Star K” series broke through the glass ceiling, Dickpunks followed suit by performing for KBS’s music show “Music Bank” yesterday.

The group released new song “Sunglass” earlier this month and has been becoming more popular among fans in Korea and overseas.

Before the group’s first terrestrial channel appearance yesterday, it performed at the 2013 Super Sonic Festival on Wednesday at Seoul Olympic Park in Songpa, southern Seoul, where many globally renowned artists such as Pet Shop Boys and John Legend performed this year.

It also previously participated in one of the largest rock festivals in Japan, Summer Sonic, last weekend, performing six songs, including “My Precious” and “Sunglass,” along with songs by other singers.

The group will also have a solo concert titled “Very Dickpunks” to give closer contact with local fans at Seoul Olympic Park. Afterward, the group will have a national tour in many cities, including Daegu and Busan next month, and Daejeon in October.
