JYP has girl group waiting in wingsJYP Entertainment, one of Korea’s top three entertainment agencies, is gearing up to introduce a new girl group next year. It has been said the new group will have six members and that all of them are currently practicing dance moves and getting vocal training.
“The team is being produced through the most strategic training system that has debuted at JYP until now,” an industry expert said.
The last girl group the agency introduced was Miss A in 2010.
In recent years, the agency has focused more on training and promoting singers from local audition programs, including “K-Pop Star” on broadcaster SBS. Park Jin-young, the chief producer of the agency, is one of three judges who evaluates the potential of the show’s contestants.
The group’s exact debut date has not been confirmed.
The agency is also considering introducing another boy group next year. Possible members of the new group, named 5Live, are the singers of “Lovely Girl,” a soundtrack for the KBS drama “Beautiful Man.”
